# Known Missing Features

> Features planned for future ontology development

The following features are planned or in development for the ontology system:

* Continuous verification of ontology integrity (presence of backing tables, validity of attributes and links, etc.)
* Improvements to formulaic and derived attributes UX
* Typechecking of formulaic and derived attributes
* Fully Automatic generation of initial ontology from arbitrary database ERDs (without Alation)

  Some automatic ontology generation features are already available:

  * **Attribute Auto-Inference**: Attributes are automatically inferred from table schemas when adding objects
  * **Alation Integration**: Import complete ontologies from Alation data catalog
