Spreadsheets and File Uploads
Upload and manage files in TextQL
For most new customers, TextQL handles the initial dataset configuration. If you need assistance with advanced dataset configuration or have specific requirements, please contact matt.abate@textql.com.
Uploading Files
You can upload files through multiple interfaces:
The chat interface provides a sidebar with a dedicated file upload section. Click the paperclip icon to open the file upload area, then either drag and drop your CSV file or use the file selection dialog.
The datasets page offers a centralized location for file management. Navigate to the Datasets page and use the upload button or drag-and-drop area to add new files.
Working with Files in Chat
Once uploaded, files can be accessed directly from the chat interface. The chat sidebar displays all available datasets. Click the paperclip icon to view your files and select one to include in your conversation.
Files are automatically previewed before being added to the chat, allowing you to verify the data. The preview shows the first few rows of your dataset along with column information.
Dataset Management
The Datasets page serves as your central hub for managing uploaded files. Here you can:
- View all uploaded datasets with previews
- Search and filter your datasets
- Add descriptions to improve dataset discoverability
- Monitor dataset usage through creation and access timestamps
- Remove datasets when they’re no longer needed
File Size Limits
TextQL supports CSV file uploads with the following default limits:
- File size: up to 1GB
- Rows: up to 1 million
- Columns: up to 100
These limits may vary by organization. If any of these limits are exceeded, the upload tool will display an error message.
To view the specific limits for your organization:
- Navigate to Settings (lowest tab on the left sidebar)
- Click on the “Specs” tab
- Find your upload limits under the file upload section
